At the height of 3,500 feet above sea level, the flat-topped mountain, fittingly named Table Mountain, watches over the city of Cape Town. The locals feel a connection to the mountain, personifying the prominent landmark as a motherly figure protecting its children. Visible from Robben Island, inmates would look towards the mainland, see the skyline of the city with the picturesque mountains in the background, and yearn for the days of freedom.

Even today Table Mountain is probably still the most recognizable landmark in all of South Africa, as well as making the list for 7 New Wonders of the World.

Of course the Hop On Hop Off bus has a direct route there, which we took first thing in morning.

Included in our package is entry to the Two Oceans Aquarium Cape Town, an opportunity we could not miss.

One cannot go to Cape Town without riding the Cape Town Wheel

The rest of the day was spent wandering aimlessly around the waterfront, soaking in the atmosphere and people watching.
