Nha Trang & Da Nang - Vietnam

Further up the coast we continued to venture for some more rest and relaxation.

The destination was Nha Trang, another Vietnamese beach town. Although less touristy than Mui Ne, there was no shortage of fun activities.

A mile or two from the shore were a chain of islands, most of which inhabited by fisherman are tourist stops. For $10 a person we hopped on four stop island hopping tour, seafood lunch and karoake included.

We had a great time jumping off the side of the boat into the bright green waters of the South China Sea

In the evening we had a delicious all-you-can-eat seafood dinner. We were provided our own mini grill and hot pot to cook the food ourselves. It was yummy :)

Unfortunately, Nadine became quite ill from the oysters, just as she did in Beijing. Fool me once..

Aside from the islands and dinner, nothing else remarkable or noteworthy occurred in Nha Trang. We say that in a positive way though. We desperately need some relaxation days like these: eating, exercising, getting massages, and strolling the boardwalk

An hour’s flight took us further north to Da Nang, where we continued more of the same. We walked the beach, ate some tasty food, and spent some quality time together.

We found a really neat 3D art museum in the city center.

We took a day trip to a town called Hoi An, famous for its Ancient Town and canals.

After grabbing a banh mi at a restaurant made famous by Anthony Bourdain when he visited, we rented bicycles from a hotel and toured the city. The workers at the hotel seemed to believe that we were staying there, so we were given the bicycles to use free of charge.

“Description Bánh mì or banh mi is the Vietnamese word for bread. In Vietnamese cuisine, it also refers to a type of baguette which is often split lengthwise and filled with various savory ingredients as a sandwich and served as a meal.”

We capped off the evening with a canal ride. To put prices in perspective, a twenty minute gondola ride in Venice cost €80. In Vietnam for the same experience the price was $4.

On our final day in Da Nang, the highlight was participating in our new favorite activity: riding bicycles. Fortunately for us, the hotel we were staying also lent bikes to its guests/invitados. For three hours we rode down the boardwalk until we reached the end, where we stumbled upon a lake near a statue of Lady Buddha.

From here we would fly to Hanoi, capital of Vietnam.
